Title: Starting point
Theme: July Writing Prompt 2014 #11 - July 11
Prompt: Save the Bees! We all know that bees are in trouble - and how important they are to everyone, Sherlock Holmes included. Whether it's participating in (or starting!) an indigogo campaign like this one, a stint in a laboratory, or some other strategem, how would you have Holmes act to save bees?
Author: Alaylith
Rating: PG
Universe: BBC (S1); based on ACD "Silver Blaze"
Characters: Sherlock, John
Word Count: 246
Summary: Everything starts somewhere, be it saving the bees or Sherlock.

A/N: At first I did not really like the prompt (in connection with my story, the prompt itself is great ^^), but I am quite happy with my drabble. :)

Oh and I just started to watch Granada again, but the problem is that the german voices are horrible and I just can't watch it in german. But I can not understand everything they say in English and my german DVD box only has german subtitles, so it was always a bit not-good watching the episodes.
So I tried finding transcripts of the episodes, so I could read those things I do not understand, but I was only able to find a few episodes.
Until I found a website with subtitles for all kinds of shows, movies and in all kinds of languages. Granada was there as well and now I have subtitles = transcripts for all episodes. ^_^

Finally I can enjoy the show completely and I can't wait to watch two or three episodes this evening. ;D

So, now comes the drabble. :b

"Sherlock!"

A strong grip suddenly pulls him back by the elbow and Sherlock looks up surprised. He was intently concentrating on the muddy tracks and ignored everyting else.
By the look on John's face, apparantly John's voice as well.

"What?" Sherlock asks, his thoughts trickling away and annoyance taking over. He was working! John knows better than to disturb his work!

"Look where you put your feet," John admonishes gently and Sherlock looks down to see a little sandy mound with a small hole right in front of his foot. If John did not pull him back, he would have stepped directly into it.
"Saving the bees now, John?" Sherlock asks, looking up from the nest of the mining bees and shaking off John's hand. "It is not as if saving one nest will do much for the overall population."

John only shrugs and steps around both Sherlock and the nest. "Well, you have to start somewhere, don't you?"

"And that works?" Sherlock snorts, taking a huge step over the nest and hurries forward to take the lead again.

John looks over his shoulder, a teasing, gentle smile on his lips and Sherlock is taken aback anew, that anyone could ever be looking like this at him.
"Worked with you quite well."

Sherlock does not answer, only ducks his head to look at the tracks again, but John is pleased to see that Sherlock does not step on any other nests or even flowers anymore.
